Hollywood Visits Brunswick

The Lawrenceville/Brunswick Airport was transformed into a movie set used to film significant scenes from the motion picture "Loving". The movie was filmed entirely in Virginia, with the Airport runway being used for drag strip scenes using vintage vehicles from the 1950's (credit Brunswick Times Gazette October 6, 2015 edition) In past years, Lake Phoenix in north Brunswick has been the site for the filming of a couple of movies also. Scenes for the movie "The Replacements" were filmed at Lake Phoenix (known as Lake Rawlings at the time of filming). The movie, starring Keanu Reeves, featured a sunken sailboat scene shot at 30 feet underwater. Scenes from Colin Farrell's Jamestown story, "The New World" were also filmed in the clear waters of the lake.
